Description
An intermediate-level professional, the Systems Development Specialist is a fully qualified individual producer who applies a broad knowledge of engineering/automation concepts, practices and procedures. Incumbents are competent to work on fairly complex assignments (and/or portions of larger, complex systems) and perform a full range of development activities. The incumbent generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads, and operating with only general supervision, although errors at this level can cause delay, expense and/or disruption. May provide occasional functional guidance to less experienced staff. Incumbents are responsible for the installation, development, implementation, and customization of software system elements.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Generates, updates, compiles, debugs and writes moderately complex business, scientific, or software computer programs that contain logical and mathematical solutions to business problems or questions.
- Develops moderately complex flow charts and diagrams outlining process steps in operation; develops and revises program code
- Prepares documentation of program development, modifications and operating instructions; conducts program tests and makes modifications to code as needed under general direction from Software Engineering Team Leads; and analyzes system capabilities to resolve input/output problems.
- Writes basic business applications computer software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business problems or questions.
- Unit and integrate test modules as well as participate in design and code reviews.
- The candidate will work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Respond quickly to changing priorities, must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet schedules and assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Good time management skills to handle multiple projects. Ability to be flexible with time and work schedule, and provide consistent follow-through on projects.
- Work individually and as a member of a team. Willingness to share knowledge.
- Production support including debugging job failures and project implementation support.
- Level 2/3 support of production systems on an as needed basis when called.df-tc
