Description
Throughput Improvement Modeling Contractor Position Requirements The following are the necessary requirements for the person performing the throughput improvement modeling: B.Eng. or B. Comp. Sci. with min. 2 years industry experience. Minimum of one year (1-year) experience with Matlab (preferably version 7.0.1) and the Simulink (preferably version 6.1) and SimEvents packages. Experience with the following tasks using Matlab would be valuable: o Development of Simulink S-function files using the C programming language or native M-file formats. o Compilation of C language programs using mex Matlab command, translation of M-files to C language files using the mcc Matlab compiler. o Generation of a graphical user interface (GUI) to input simulation parameters, and present simulation output results in table or graph format. " Ability to perform the following tasks: o Construction of custom state based node models for networking components to model the throughput, latency, jitter, and high level queuing, message exchange, and (de)multiplexing behavior. The models could be motivated by message sequence charts of inter-network element communications, software architecture documents, or reverse engineering of system test equipment. o Implementation of throughput detection, control, and enhancement algorithms from system requirements documentation. o Import geographic location information for the base stations and co-located equipment with predefined latitude and longitude coordinates, sector orientations, and beamwidths. o Construction of traffic models from table based data or random number generators with temporal and geographic regions of traffic concentration. The table based data could be the data collected in live field deployments. The following set of skills would be desirable to have: " Knowledge of UNIX shell scripting languages such as tcsh/csh, Tcl, Expect, Python, and Perl desirable. " Knowledge of 2G GSM 3GPP network architecture desired, in particular the A-bis, A, L-bis, Lb, Lg, and E5 interfaces. " Experience with Rational Clearcase version control and the Telelogic DOORS requirements tools. " Knowledge of one or more of the following topics: packet data scheduling algorithms, queuing theory, quality-of-service, traffic shaping, congestion control, resource assignment and management.df-tc
