Description
Software Developers create a vision for customer software deliverables. Using business insight as well as technical knowledge, they plan, design, implement, analyze, review, and enhance software products with a focus on quality for customers.

This position is for a lead Software Engineer within the Grid Infrastructure Group at Acxiom.

The candidate will be involved in design and development of complex infrastructure level components that are part of the Grid Operating Environment. Individual in this role will typically work directly with a team of 3 to 6 software developers and interact with many others in various roles outside of that team. The system is being developed mainly on RedHat Linux (RHEL3 and RHEL4) . Primary programming languages are C and C++. Knowledge of SOA and distributed computing/parallel processing is essential in this role. The candidate should have solid design, coding and testing experience within a well defined software life cycle development process. Good communication skills are essential.

Required skills/experience/education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong communication skills are a must - emphasis on writing technical specifications, and working through interviewing and extracting requirements
- Strong C/C++ experience
- Development experience on Linux or any Unix variant
- Knowledge of shell scripting and multi-threaded program development experience
- Strong leadership skills in directing and motivating team members
- Languages: C, C++, Perl or Python
- Operating Systems: Linux, UNIX (any flavor)
- Tools: standard Unix tools set, Apache
- API: Sockets, multi-threading
- Protocols: TCP/IP
- Technologies/Middleware: Object oriented design

Preferred skills/experience/education:
- Masters degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- Languages: Java
- Operating Systems: Windows (2000, XP or any other variant)
- RDBMS: Any
- Technologies: SOAP, CORBA, SSL, XML
