Software Engineer,Research Engineer (DCN)Location: Mountain View, CADescription:Quova is seeking a Data Research Engineer to join the Research Team. This individual will play a key role both in developing new technology and in providing sustaining engineering for Quova's geolocation technology. This position requires solid software engineering experience, strong data analysis skills, and past application development utilizing distributed system architectures.Responsibilities * Serve as a key contributor to the collaborative design and implementation efforts of the Research Team. * Improve and expand upon Quova's IP Geolocation technologies. * Maintain and enhance Quova's world-spanning Data Collection Network, existing software systems and products. * Analyze data from our vast collection network, seven years of historical Internet data, and internal systems to ensure consistent quality levels and further our understanding of the Internet * Develop new technology to enhance Quova's product offerings. Required Skills/Experience * BSCS, BSEE or equivalent with 4 years of related experience required. * Minimum of 2 years of software development experience in distributed application architecture or complex systems architectures. * In-depth working knowledge of Java and the ability to understand object-oriented, component-based architectures. * Experience with distributed application architectures and tools. * Thorough knowledge of and experience with Relational Data Base applications, including solid data modeling skills. Knowledge of SQL and JDBC. * Be able to take high level requirements and turn them into feature specifications and software design, ability to define and work to development schedules. * Possess the patience to apply solid and consistent software development methodology discipline to your work, including thorough unit testing. * Strong written and verbal communications skills. Desired Skills/Experience * Working knowledge of distributed and client/server software systems, including multi-threading techniques, network communication and data distribution are highly desired. C/C /Perl a plus. Knowledge of Spring Framework, JMX, JMS a plus. * Prior experience with Oracle database systems and Java applications interfacing with database is highly desired. Knowledge of Oracle and PL/.SQL a plus. * Experience with data analysis, automated decision or Machine Learning-based applications, including pattern matching, rule-based systems or information parsing techniques a plus. Knowledge of Jess a plus. * Strong analytical skills. * Ability to perform research and effectively communicate the results in oral and written format. * Ability to become the subject matter expert in the area of Internet Geography. Research and validate new methods of IP geolocation. * Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, a strong plus. * Good UI design skills, Swing knowledge a plus, and the ability to work closely with users, a plus.df-tc
