Description
Responsibilities include the creation of programs, providing patches and upgrades to existing programs, and occasionally designing Graphical User Interface (GUI) to meet the specific needs of users. The candidate must also prepare operating instructions, compile documentation of program development, and analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. The candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will have frequent contact with outside customers and be able to represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Must be able to works closely with functional users to enhance and maintain programs.



The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of software engineering principles, C/C++ programming languages, a working knowledge of various operating systems (i.e. Linux, Windows, VxWorks, etc), and be familiar with Internet protocols. The candidate will provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are expected to be imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. The candidate must be able to work under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.



The position involves development of software for embedded systems along with utilities and programs on desktop systems that assist and/or communicate with embedded systems. Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and other test equipment is desirable. The candidate will work with a small team of multi-discipline engineers and must be a self starter.



Develops and designs radar systems used to simulate hostile acquisition and tracking radars. Provides requirements development through analysis and documentation of threat radars and EWIR data, determination of simulator system requirements, specification of hardware subsystems, components and boards, design of interfaces, design of operational concepts, input to software development, input to system documentation, integration of radar subsystems and components, test and diagnostics development, training of operator and maintenance technicians. Conducts trade off analysis of requirements for performance and operating characteristics versus costs and risks. Understands applications for radar timing and receiver processing such as DMTI, AGC, range gating, non synchronous pulse suppression, clutter attenuation through differentiation and other ECCM techniques. Uses Windows platform, and the design application of CPUs, DSPs, Flash EPROM, UARTs, FPGAs, ADC/DAC, ORCAD capture, VME PCB design and layout. Assists in radar transmitters design.



Travel is required in this position.

Determines computer user needs; advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.

Typical Minimum Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an expert, authority in discipline.
