JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES Title: Software Engineer Supervisor Summary The Software Engineer Supervisor functions as a key member of the Development team for the assigned business unit. Duties involve aspects of design, engineering, and interaction with QA to implement commercial medical/dental software products. In addition to Software Engineering duties, this role supervises other Software Engineers. Responsibilities Engineer, code, and debug both new and legacy code Perform specific skills in reference to research and analysis of technologies Derive and design technical specifications from general product requirements and specs Problem solving skills, diagnosing, and finding and testing solutions Create and perform unit tests Participate in coding and code reviews for final product Be accountable for agreed upon development schedule Assist in quality assurance measures (code reviews, unit and interaction test case creation, etc.) Assist User Documentation Specialist in assembling information for user documentation Assist Technical Support and development team in solving programming-related problems Able to work with minimal supervision Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science field Requirements Minimum of 6-9 years of software engineering experience Production-level software product experience Proficiency in applicable object-oriented software languages (preferably Java, C# , C++, Delphi) Current on new technology and development techniques within the software industry Advanced ability to implement from technical specifications Experience in object-oriented software engineering methodologies Advanced ability to debug both new and legacy code Ability to multi-task and work well under high pressure Good communication and interpersonal skills Work well independently as well as in a team Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required REQUIRED SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Proficiency with Relational Databases and SQL Proficiency in applicable object-oriented modeling languages (e.g. UML, OSA) Database schema modeling and comprehension Net or J2EE architecture skills Ability to understand legacy code, domain space and refactor to new code base Ability to handle frequent object model and database schema changes Good analytical and design skills at single product/single environment level; skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation Proficient PC skills with working knowledge of Window/Win 95/98/NT development Good documentation skills High Tech: Experience with high tech hardware, integration and imaging knowledge; also x-ray certification Preferred Previous Management/ Team Leader experience a plus Customer-facing experience desired In return, our client offers a generous compensation package and benefits.
