Software Engineer- Web ServicesSan FranciscoDescriptionDevelop web services and web applications serving a world-wide community of GPS developers and users. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Build web services using XML, enterprise Java and database development* Build web applications using AJAX, JSP, XSLT, HTML and CSS* Build Web 2.0 community websites specializing in online mapping and geo-social networking* Define and build a developer API to be used by Garmin software engineers and third-party developers* Participate in the full lifecycle of development from conception, analysis, design, implementation, testing and deploymentOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:* Continually improve development process while interacting with a small, efficient team* Participate in help documentation for developer APIs* Provide customer service through forum participation* Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:* Bachelor of Science or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from a four-year college or university, or equivalent educations/experience* Strong academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)* Multiple positions open for experienced and entry level Java programmers* Relevant experience and/or training with Java and J2EE (JSP / Struts / JSF / EJB 3 / Hibernate)* Relevant experience and/or training with XML, XPath, XML Schema, and Web Services (SOAP / REST)* Relevant experience and/or training with Javscript, HTML, XSLT, CSS, AJAX* Relevant experience and/or training with Flash, ActionScript* Relevant experience and/or training with Eclipse, Oxygen XML / XML Spy* Relevant experience and/or training with database development (MySQL / MySQL Spatial)* Relevant experience and/or training with test-driven development (Ant / Maven / JUnit / Continuous Integration)* Relevant experience and/or training with Google Maps, Google Earth, Yahoo Maps, Microsoft Virtual Earth* Relevant experience and/or training with JBoss Application Server, Tomcat, JBoss WS / Apache AxisDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:* Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)* Previous experience working in a team environment* Familiarity with GPSdf-tc
