Software Engineer

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer that has a minimum of five years experience with embedded software development. The successful candidate must also have a degree in Computer Science / Engineering with hands on experience using Ada95 and C, C++.

The candidate will be responsible for developing software for the U.S. Navy?s next generation combat system. This position involves developing and enhancing an internationally deployed combat management system for the U.S. Navy?s Littoral Combat Ship. The combat system software developer will be developing code for an open system, OMG-DDS complaint system built on state of the art COTS equipment. Software development will include designing, coding, unit testing, integration testing, and verification and validation testing. The candidate will develop and implement advanced algorithms used in real-time systems. The ability to implement algorithms efficiently, and the ability to understand and maximize the computing and I/O resources of the hardware platform is essential. This is not an IT/database application/transaction processing type position. Work for this position will include the development of new code and the maintenance of existing code. The candidate will plan and organize tasking for team members, monitor the progress and quality of team member's work product, and provide technical support and assistance to junior team members. The candidate may be required to take a test to verify programming skills. This position involves a 6 to 12 month intensive training onsite in the Baltimore/DC area. Career advancement possibilities are limited only by your desire. Domestic and International travel will be required at 25% to 50%.

Desired Skills:
? Knowledge of Unix/Linux environment.
? Candidate must also be familiar with sound software engineering methodologies.
? M.S. Science/Engineering/OA/OR, JAVA, OO, UML, Model Driven Engineering.
? Experience with open system architecture.
? Knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD).
? Experience with Object Management Group / Data Distribution.
? Service (OMG/DDS) Standards for Real-Time Systems.
? Experience with U.S. Navy combat systems.
