Description
LA Works is a Los Angeles County WorkSource Center that provides a comprehensive system of training, placement and career planning services for job seekers and businesses throughout Southern California at no charge.
We also have developed an advanced Web-based system for employers and job seekers. In addition, we have also produced complementary software products that enhance the employment and training process. The suite of products has been successfully implemented within our national client base of like organizations.

Job duties for this position will be focused on updating and expanding the capabilities and functions of our software products. Applicant must be able to develop and implement code under tight budgets and deadlines. Also, the applicant should be able to work with marketing and support personnel and articulate technical concepts. Functional capabilities include the following:
  • Hands-on experience in all areas of application lifecycle development
  • MS Access application development for business application prototype development
  • Data warehouse and report development
  • Software engineering process and project coordination
  • Legacy data conversions
  • QA test plan development
  • Documentation development
  • Computer based training (CBT), Train the trainer training, Class room training;
  • Sales and marketing presentations.

Experience/Skills

Minimum Experience

  • 3-5 years SQL database development
  • 3-5 years Web application development
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Master Degree (Preferred)

 

Programming Capabilities

  • HTML, DHTML, XML
  • Visual Basic
  • C+/C#
  • ISAPI (Plus)
  • ASP.NET (Preferred)
  • ADO.NET ( Preferred)
  • SQL Server with T-SQL (Preferred)
  • MS Access (Required)

 

Application Development Skills (references mandatory)

  • Strong technical design skills
  • Strong user interface design skills
  • Prior work developing enterprise applications
  • Implementation of software applications for client/server environments
  • Prior work on a government, publicly accessible, web site (Preferred)
