Software Engineer - Mobile Technology

Full-Time/Permanent

About the Position:

You will be a key member of the early stage technical team of a growing company. We will develop and deliver the next-generation mobile
social networking/entertainment portal service. You must
continuously seek new ideas to delight our customers, and rapidly
prototype and design new ideas for the fastest delivery to the market.


If you are a Perl/PHP/Java developer passionate in developing
cutting-edge social entertainment services for mobile customers in the
US and worldwide, you will find this a very exciting opportunity to
make a huge impact in this fast-growing market.

Job Duties:

* Analyze and understand the mobile market in the US, Europe and worldwide
* Continuously seek new ideas to delight customers (= increase the
value of mobile social entertainment service)
* Formulate service product specifications targeted for untapped
mobile customer base
* Design, rapidly prototype and implement new ideas to achieve fast
delivery of our mobile social entertainment service to the market
utilizing both client-side technologies and server-side technologies.
Our client-side technologies would include WAP, XHTML, SMS, J2ME and
Flash Lite. Our server-side technologies would include Perl, PHP,
MySQL, Apache, Java, C/C++.
* Monitor customer's usage pattern and listen to customer's feedback
to rapidly change the product design to maximize existing customers'
satisfaction
* Maintain, refactor existing codebase to keep existing customers
happy while attracting new customers

Job Requirements:

* At least 4 years of professional experience in software design and development
* At least 2 years of professional experience in consumer mobile, or
consumer internet companies
* Passion for new ideas to deliver innovative or additional value to
our customers in mobile social networking services
* Demonstrated strong skills in designing and programming web-based
applications using LAMP-based technologies (Perl, PHP, Java, MySQL,
Apache, Linux)
* Customer-focused attitude while maintaining high engineering
standards on scalability and robustness
* Ability to work independently as a self-starter in rapid development cycle
* Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent

Additional Skills/Experiences Preferred:

* Previous experience in mobile services development using WAP, XHTML,
SMS, J2ME, FlashLite
* Skills in C/C++ and low-level programming
* Understanding of cultural differences among US/Europe/Asia,
especially around entertainment contents including Game and Anime
* Japanese language skill is not necessarydf-tc
