Robert Half Technology in Overland Park KS is seeking a Level 2 HPC ENGINEER AND DEVELOPER for a long term contract opportunity with the potential for permanent placement for the selected candidate.Job Responsibilities: This position will start installing software on each node, connecting the nodes to each other with a network.Keeping the nodes running for testing purpose which will involve the following tasks:Design system trees and rack layout, setup user accounts, organize the file system layout, and perform other tasks that fall under the requirements of head nodes per customer’s order request. Configure head nodes, workstation nodes, interconnect, cabling. Monitor Rack process until order completedInstalling all compilers used on the clusterCompiling standard libraries, such as MPICH, against each of the installed compilersRecompiling, installing, and configuring the cluster queuing system, including knowledge transfer Linux system administration, interconnect technology, and task scheduling experience.Extensive experience with HPC cluster tools, e.g. MPI, MPICH, MPICH-GM, and PVM parallel programming, MPI and related, PVM, GMP, and VPython, and intermediate level of shell scriptingExtensive knowledge of major Linux distributions RedHat, Suse, Debian, CentOS, Rocks, Fedora, Apache web server.PBS or Torque/Maui schedule handler, and NFS managing parallel files . Benchmark Linux system performance across IA32, IA64 and POWER architectures

Experience/Skills
Required Knowledge: Programming knowledge in C++, C, Java, Python, and other scripting languages Familiar with traditional LAN management concepts, interconnect high speed network with Myrinet or Infiniband and intelligent routing SAN switches Experienced with parallel programming skillsCreative ability to adapt workstation and LAN software to the cluster environment. There are some basic principles needed to know when install and configure clusters:Design System Access Models logically and physically for both standalone system and guarded cluster configurationNode naming with assigning addressesInstalling Node software such as selected operating system and extra support softwareFamiliar with Node Cloning, creating Tar Images, BOOTP function, and related commandsBonus Knowledge: Provide internal and external developments to enhance the performance of clustersDeveloping system management per customer’s request, recompiling the Linux kernel to accommodate additional functions, such as PAPI or enabling CONFIG files, configuring, testing, and knowledge transferring of the power conditioning, control system, the node rebuild infrastructure, procedures, and serversPort, evaluate, and recommend executive direction for Atipa Linux Products, database, clusters,and file system solutionsEvaluate, research, and recompile in Linux distribution library and any related toolsManage technical issues arising within the sales cycle including systems to customer specificationsEnhance installation, configuration, and knowledge transfer of the HPC tuning requirements, such as an HPL benchmark to be reported to the Top500.org site
