Description
This person will serve as software engineer on the ASOC/AIMSS program. In this position, this individual will design and develop updates to the current baseline software architecture resulting from various Engineering Change Proposals (ECP?s) which will be exercised over the next several years. Anticipated ECP?s include the following: 1) operating system upgrade from Solaris 2.6 to Solaris 2.9, 2) changing the system architecture for interfacing with external data sources (radars, flight plans, etc.), 3) incorporation of a remote operator workstation capability, 4) incorporation of a Link-11/Link-16 capability, 5) incorporation of new methods for inter-process communication, 6) incorporation of a new user interface toolkit, 7) replacement of current X-Windows/Motif based user interface components with Java based user interface components, 8) incorporation of XML technologies into the software architecture, 9) incorporation of new correlation and tracking algorithms, and 10) incorporation of a Relational DBMS into the software architecture. This individual will be required to work in a team environment, soliciting input from the various project stake holders and utilizing the existing project experience base to peer review all proposed architectural changes.

General Position Description

Determines computer user needs; advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
