Description
The Hurlburt Field Database Generation Facility builds synthetic environments that are flown on the USAF Special Operations Force's aircraft simulators. This position develops, enhances, analyzes various forms of hard copy and digital geographical data, and then assembles this data into real-time visual databases for flight simulation visuals and associated subsystems.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete assigned tasks by performing data enhancement on digital geographic source information to include precise feature plotting, extraction, compilation, modification, classification and other cartographic and imagery support tasks.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have or be capable of obtaining a DoD TOP-SECRET SBI. Active security clearance preferred. Ability to coordinate with all levels of program management and government customers. Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision. Experience working with geographic information or simulated environments strongly desired.



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with the creation and editing of digital geographic data or visual synthetic environment databases is highly desired. Specific experience with any of the following tools and platforms is preferred: ArcInfo, Vital 9, MultiGen, Socet Set, Terrex, LMIS Target, TOPScene, and ERDAS. Knowledge of scripting in UNIX (Awk, C-Shell, etc.) or Visual Basic programming.



General Position Description
Conducts or participates in multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user needs; advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.

Typical Minimum Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Entry level.
