We have an immediate need for a Software Engineers

JOB DESCRIPTION
Intermediate level engineer assigned to develop production software of moderate complexity and diverse scope requiring technical solutions in a particular area of specialty. Utilizes knowledge and practical experience and exercises judgment in completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

- Performs technical work requiring experience in the application of standard techniques and procedures in carrying out tasks. Expands experience and knowledge in areas of assignments and accomplishes tasks in a professional manner.
- Conducts smaller development projects independently. Performs specific portions of broader projects as part of a scrum team. Solicits input and expertise as necessary from higher level engineers within and outside team, to carry out assignments correctly. Plans and conducts tasks to implement design requirements to produce high quality software.
- Analyzes requirements, and collaborates with team to determine and document software requirement and design specifications for projects of moderate scope.
- Implements, unit tests, debugs and integrates code of moderate complexity.
- Writes and conducts automated and manual tests to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of developed or enhanced software. Develops and initiates design changes or enhancements as necessary. Documents and reviews all results with scrum team and system test engineers. Establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all work. Communicates technical issues within scope of assignments. Assists with technical specification documentation and review.
- Keeps abreast of technical trends, develops and incorporates them within assignments as appropriate. Recommends improvements and changes in designs and gives professional appraisal on phases of the design in which the individual is particularly trained or experienced.


Works on jobs requiring technical decision making within own assignment, but normally receives general instructions on routine work and more detailed instructions on new assignments; work reviewed by more senior Software Engineers on team, for the soundness of technical judgment and overall accuracy.

Works as part of a team in an agile/scrum environment - accountable to the rest of the team for delivering on planned commitments within each sprint.

Qualifications and Requirements:
BS degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field is preferred, with approximately 2 years of directly related work experience. No actual work experience may be required for individuals holding a MS or higher degree in one of these fields. Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education.
Proficiency in Java (and possibly additional object oriented languages, e.g. C++), plus one or more scripting languages (e.g. UNIX shell, PERL, JavaScript). Knowledge and experience with OOAD principles and methodologies.
Knowledge and experience with basic software lifecycle process and Configuration Management tools.
Experience delivering web-based applications.
Knowledge of more advanced programming environments and concepts highly desired (e.g. J2EE, Spring, multi-threaded programming)
Strong working knowledge of networking and data communications is a plus.
Knowledge and experience with Internet technologies (e.g. HTML, XML, TCP/IP) highly desired
Knowledge and experience with relational database technologies (SQL, schema design) and ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate) highly desired
Good understanding and experience of Scrum and Agile working methods preferred.
