You will work on-site at Phoenix International's New Product Introduction Center, which is nestled in North Dakota State University's Research and Technology Park in Fargo. The Position



Phoenix International is looking for a Software Motor Control Engineer to be responsible for the analysis, design, development, debugging and modification of software for electric motor control and other electronic control applications for harsh and hazardous environments in the agriculture, construction, heavy duty on-highway, commercial and industrial markets. We will consider candidates with a range of mid career to senior level experience. In this position, you will :

Determine design approaches and parameters.
Analyze and simulate requirements using tools such as Matlab, Simulink, etc.
Troubleshoot embedded software applications, often involving analog and digital hardware and software operating systems.
Work closely with electronic design engineering personnel to optimize hardware performance.
Design and implement software for new and/or existing electric motor control products that meet customer required features and functions.
Develop Simulink models of electric motors and control algorithms to aid in the implementation of the software design.
Review necessary support documentation by other engineering groups and generate support documents as required.
Work closely with other project team members as required to ensure the final combined product has compatible software and electronichardware as specified in the product specifications.
Follow design and testing processes as specified by software procedures.
Travel as required to accomplish the tasks required of this position, including meeting with customers to generate concepts and product requirements, installing and testing prototypes, and troubleshooting and correcting improper operation of products designed.




Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or other equivalent technical discipline.
Required Skills and Experience

3+ years of experience as a practicing Engineer in the development of vehicle electric motion control software and systems.
Solid understanding of motor control methods and theory.
Comprehensive knowledge of motor control algorithms and software for BLDC, PMAC, induction and switched reluctance motors.
Ability to model and simulate electric motor drive systems and control theory.
Ability to adapt motor and motor control hardware, software, and mechanical packaging to mobile equipment applications.
Power circuit software design and development including DC/DC, AC/DC and DC/AC converters, inverters and motor drives.
Ability to plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Ability to perform assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.df-tc
