Software Product Analyst

Description:
The Project Manager/Software Product Analyst is responsible for supporting critical business strategies by designing Sales Force Automation tools delivered on the Web or on PDA's. These tools are designed to simplify business management for over 100,000 company sales force members in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, Spain and the UK. PDA applications are primarily used to gather client data and signatures to submit business. Web applications are primarily used to manage client data and submitted business. The primary responsibility of the position is writing the functional specifications to document the business requirements and functionality of the application. You will work closely with the Sales Force, Business Units, and Information Technology project teams to determine business requirements and design the user interface. In addition, the position supports the Product Manager as needed to manage the project throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (including programming, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance/updates phases).

Specifications/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in computer science/technology/engineering, information technology, or equivalent discipline
  • 5 years experience in project management and system design/application design or related discipline
Proven experience is required in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of application design and software development methodologies
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency/effectiveness of business processes using technology and user interface design
  • Clarify and document business requirements bases on analysis and research
  • Develop visual prototypes of the user interface to support business requirements
  • Write functional specifications explaining business requirements to programmers
  • Define UAT (User Acceptance Test) criteria
  • Work with Quality Assurance and IT teams to support testing and development
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of company systems, databases, and business operations a plus
  • Working knowledge of QMF or SQL and database structures a plus
  • Knowledge of financial services a plus
  • Knowledge of personal financing planning practices and procedures a plus
  • Ability to provide regular and frequent status updates and project information to management
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate within and across diverse project teams
  • Quick grasp of technical information and requirements
  • Ability to manage and prioritize the input and opinions of multiple groups of departments, users, peers, and management while keeping in mind the business requirements of a project
  • Sound business-related skills such as problem solving, team building, judgment and decision making
  • Self-starter with a track record of delivering quality work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
