Software Quality Assurance EngineerLocation: Mill Valley CaliforniaDescription: The TVWorks applications QA group is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to design and execute test programs, and to verify the functionality of TVWorks interactive television software applications. The SQA Engineer will write and execute test cases in a timely manner while generating and writing clear and concise bug reports, and tracking and communicating bug statistics. The candidate should be a flexible, independent worker as well as an excellent team player. They should be able to work optimally under schedule deadlines and be willing to help where needed in a QA capacity across the organization.The successful SQA team member will: * Evaluate software requirements and work closely with developers to define a test plan and test procedures to thoroughly test the application. * Setup and configure test environments (set top boxes, simulators, web servers, etc.) * Develop, document, and execute detailed test cases and test suites (build acceptance, functional, integration, stress, load, performance, etc.). * Execute component, and feature-level testing. * Generate and write clear and concise defect reports, and validate bug fixes. * Monitor, track and regularly report test status and bug statistics to the project team. * Provide feedback to the project team on usability, functionality and quality of experience. * Ensure that the product reaches the highest level of quality possible.Qualifications include: * BSCS/EE or equivalent industry experience * Minimum of 5 years experience in software testing * Demonstrated knowledge of the Internet technologies and experience testing Internet applications * Experience executing a test program during a complete software development release cycle from start to finish. * A solid understanding of software development and testing methodologies. * Proven ability to develop, execute and maintain test plans and test cases. * Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems as well as effectively communicate software defects. * Ability to work independently and provide excellent follow-through on tasks is essential. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Must be detail-oriented, pro-active, and able to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously. * Experience testing interactive television applications or consumer software products; * Familiarity with basic UNIX/Linux commands and system structure. * Experience with testing web based applications that use XML and SQL is a plus. * Experience debugging application using test tools and debug output/ log files. * Experience with Automated Testing tools a plus.An ideal candidate will possess any of the following multimedia and broadcast communications experience:Test experience with mixed-signal devices, MPEG decoders, analog/digital converters, and set-top box technology for digital TV. Experience with interactive television, Internet multimedia, and/or broadcast video equipment.df-tc
