CTB and The Grow Network, make up the Assessment and Reporting business function of McGraw-Hill Education. This Group creates and builds a comprehensive range of formative and summative assessments, reporting tools, individual study guides, instructional programs, software, and services, all built upon a tradition of research, innovation, and technical quality that benefit learners of all ages.

We currently have an outstanding opportunity for a SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER (Windows SQA Mgr) for our team in Monterey, CA.

You will be responsible for accepting project deliverables, ensuring they meet business needs and best practices through testing and evaluation. You will provide leadership and mentoring for both assurance and compliance functions. You will interact with all levels of project and business management with the ability to investigate, evaluate, document, monitor and resolve project quality problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, direct and co-ordinate quality assurance activities: test planning, execution, recording, ensuring all software products are released on schedule.

Develop/improve the definition of test philosophies and methodologies for all SQA activities; implement these improvements.

Provide estimates for scheduling, tracking all projects for on time deliverables.

Provide mentoring/training for other QA team members, 3-5 direct reports, consulting staff.

Establish/implement defect prevention techniques in the SDLC for all software.

Represent as needed for scope reviews, requirements and design reviews, software inspections/root cause analysis, code reviews and post-mortems.

Identify, track, advocate resolution of software interdependencies and interoperability issues among product lines.

Develop reviews and maintain quality/reliability records.

Review and recommend systems for identifying, investigating, reporting and correcting quality problems.

Develop/implement processes and procedures for release management, defect tracking and issues management.

7+ years QA experience with extensive leadership/management of a QA team

OR

Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years QA experience with extensive leadership/management of a QA team.

Broad experience developing and implementing quality management systems.

Demonstrated success developing SQA systems in overall software and systems development lifecycles.

MUST have demonstrated success implementing governance, configuration management (CM), and release management disciplines within a technology environment.

Experience in coordinating large, complex integrated testing efforts a plus.

Strong experience with Oracle 9i SQL or PL/SQL, Sybase, Unix/PERL script a plus.

Leading/conducting performance testing, working in a formal systems development and testing methodologies are all pluses, not required.

Outstanding leadership skills: team building, mentoring, problem solving, planning.

Strong knowledge of systems, software development, manufacturing operations.

Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with internal/external customers.

Travel as needed.
