We have an immediate need for a Software Quality Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Leadership or participation in multidisciplinary research and collaboration with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems software. The Software Design Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and verification of Embedded software within our avionic products. This involves the use of modern microprocessors and supporting software engineering development environments. Entry level candidates should be interested in working in a hardware intensive environment and be eager to learn during their training period. Successful candidate should possess some of the following skills: the use of a high level language (such as C/C++ or Ada) and an assembly language and have some exposure to database design. Other key areas of involvement may include Real Time considerations, fault tolerant system design, diagnostics and supporting the development environment. A willingness to produce high quality, well-documented software for flight critical applications is essential. This position requires an individual whose academic background and interests lie in the area of software engineering, numerical methods, control systems and computer architecture. Typical Roles/Area of Focus:

Is seen as a leading expert within their field


Typical Educational Requirements:

BA/BS degree w/10+ years experience

MA/MS degree w/7+ years experience

PhD degree w/4+ years experience

US Citizen or Green Card Holder required.



Extensive Quality auditing experience may qualify candidate for position. Software Engineering experience preferred.
Systems/Software engineering experience may qualify candidate for position.

Software Quality Engineer required to handle high level programs. This will include all software Quality aspects of programs as required in addition to heavy customer and/or Government interface. As a Software Quality Engineer you will be responsible for all aspects of software quality related to specific programs and customers. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1) Review of customer requirement flow-down and customer interface,

2) Review of internal software plans, software requirements, design, code, and test documentation,

3) Develop program Software Quality Plans and procedures,

4) Interface with and support software engineering, program management, and software CM.

5) Audit skills with a focus towards compliance and process improvement; perseverance to obtain RRCA and Mistake-Proofed Corrective actions of the highest possible level that drives software development process to achieve technical excellence

Familiar with:

a) Software development process,

b) Standard such as: DO 178B and DO 254; Risk management; turn back systems and configuration management control.

c) Software Review Board activities.

Job requires:

1)Communication (reading and writing, as well as presentation) skills;

2) Excellent interpersonal relationship skills;

3) Analytical mind to interpret customer and/or Government requirements and the approach that software development engineering has taken to meet those requirements

Experience in a Q.A. software environment.

Position is approximately 6 mos.
Position is in Rockford, IL
