Software Solution Architect
Job Description:
Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS) has the need of a Software Solution Architect to join our highly technical enterprise architecture group. This architect position will play a key technical role in facilitating various technical and business initiatives within the line of business. Activities supporting these initiatives will include leadership and supporting roles in software solution inception and design, software development and solution cost and resource estimation, internal and external process and technical solution evaluation and reviews, critical production issue support, solution proposal support, client-facing meetings, vendor statement of work review and providing senior technical leadership. Preferred candidates should have J2EE software development, architectural planning and operations background with experience in large-scale enterprise solutions consisting of OLTP, B2B/B2C Web sites, distributed applications and large databases.
Duties:
* Provides technical solution support to LOB proposal initiatives and software change requests.
* When assigned to specific implementation projects, provide project specific technical leadership (including system/performance/security requirements, system configuration specifications, design reviews, architecture artifact authoring, solution research and status reporting) from project inception to project go-live.
* Communicate with all levels and aspects of LOB and IT management on technical solutions.
* Coordinate communications between various internal and external resources on formulating solutions, executing project plans and resolving issues.
* Lead and manage platform-level development projects with resources from different function groups.
* Acquire the necessary technical and business knowledge and perform technology and product research and evaluation to support LOB operations and software developments needs.
* Conduct application performance analysis, code change request analysis and estimation, and technology architecting.
* Work with business owners and vendors to craft statement of work and service level agreements.
* Assist the internal development and support teams define resources and training needs for new responsibilities.
* Lead the effort of addressing IT security audit findings by working with multiple on-site and off-site technical teams.
* Provide technical solution guidance to both internal and vendor implementation teams.
* Report to the Director of Architecture.
* Occasional travel to company and client sites.
Candidate Requirements:
* Highly self-motivated and goal-oriented work ethics with the ability to quickly understand and align with company and team priorities.
* Extensive understanding and interest in large-scale, transactional and enterprise IT solutions, including high performance software architecture, Web architecture, system infrastructure and system integration.
* Proven track record of delivery comprehensive application and database solutions to meet business needs, in both hands-on individual contributor and leadership roles.
* Extensive experience of designing, implementing, deploying and supporting enterprise-level J2EE, Internet Web, SOA and Oracle solutions.
* In depth knowledge and working experience with enterprise applications in heterogeneous and distributed environments, including various network protocols and integration between systems and applications running on MS Windows, Linux, Unix and mainframes.
* Broad knowledge and experience of all layers of the modern IT technology stack, including hardware, operation systems, network, application frameworks, database systems, vendor solutions and industry trends.
* Working knowledge of network security, data protection and encryption, secure application and other best security practices.
* Ability to quickly gain trust with technical counterparts and forge situational partnership and leadership.
Preferred Requirements
* Past experience of enterprise architect, system architect or software application architect.
* Experience with electronic payment systems, e.g. ACH/EFT, credit/debit card processing, POS, payment imaging and capturing, EBT, etc.
* Experience in project management with formal PM methodologies.


Education and Typical Years Experience:
* BSCS, BSEE, MSCS or related degree.
* Minimum 5 years experience in commercial software product development, with minimum 3 years in leadership role.
