Software/Systems Engineer - MainframeLocation: San Antonio, TXJob Description: Participates in the evaluation, development and implementation of internal or external business solutions that meet customer needs. Independently performs moderately complex to complex work assignments and problem resolution across systems, processes, or channels. Performs multiple team roles (team member, team coleader) in the delivery of technical solutions. JOB DUTIES* Acquires and applies intermediate knowledge of the business, its applications and processes.* Serves as a resource to less experienced team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.* Coordinates with crossfunctional team members to translate business requirements into specifications. Creates test plans. Gathers information, analyzes data trends, identifies root cause, and develops technical solutions.* Supports and proactively contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within area of expertise, for assigned company/staff agency, and/or across enterprise.* Within the systems or software development lifecycle, analyzes, designs, develops, tests, creates prototypes, debugs and implements new information technology systems or modifications to existing information technology systems.Minimum Requirements* Bachelors degree in IT related field (or equivalent work experience).* 4 years relevant work experience in systems or development life cycle.* Familiarity with relevant technical programming languages and/or technical systems.* Minimum of five years experience supporting a large z/OS mainframe environment. * Experience supporting a large z/OS storage environment and/or installing and supporting mainframe executive software and/or working knowledge of database technology to include IMS and/or DB2 z/OS. * Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with strong organizational and analytical skills within a complex technical environment. * A willingness to work 24X7 on-call support and weekend overtime to meet project objectives. * Strong interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication skills. Preferred* Candidate must have prior experience with electronic document implementation and delivery, covering both inbound and outbound document functions. * Criticality to success is depth of prior experience.
