Description
An intermediate-level professional, the Systems Development Specialist is a fully qualified individual producer who applies a broad knowledge of support/development practices and procedure.

Incumbents are competent to work on fairly complex assignments (and/or portions of larger, complex systems) and perform a full range of software support, SQL/Oracle database management and .asp/Vb.net development activities.

The incumbent generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads, and operating with only general supervision, although errors at this level can cause delay, expense and/or disruption.

May provide occasional functional guidance to less experienced staff.
Incumbents are responsible for the installation, development, implementation, and customization of hardware and software system elements.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop and maintain web and intranet programs, scheduling services and monitoring services.

Provide primary technical support for assigned software applications.

Replace, delete or modify codes to correct errors and analyze, review, or alter programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.

Designs, develops, installs, implements, fine tunes, documents and/or maintains databases, database dictionaries; monitors standards and procedures and integrates systems through database design and administration.

Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.

Preparation of detailed specifications from which programs will be written.

Participation in the development and preparation of documentation for, but not limited to, procedural, program and user documentation.

Works with users to ensure successful system implementation; will assist in user training.

Occasionally, may provide guidance and assists in training of less experienced staff.

May research or write portions of technical proposals.

Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge and compiles information into recommendations and analyses.df-tc
