Description
Investigate, recommend alternatives, and implement the agreed solution for improving the availability, scalability, performance, and management of UNIX Systems and services.

Develop, Implement, and Document system monitoring and fault detection processes, back up and recovery processes, and appropriate service affecting notification mechanisms for IT staff and specific business system service owners.

Support, configure, monitor, and optimize system performance to satisfy increasing usage demands, growing application complexity, and high-availability requirements of identified critical Electronic Products and Services.

Provide support for the ongoing planning, configuration, contingency/backup mechanisms, storage infrastructure and application hosting to support to new Product and Service that require sustained high quality, high-availability and high performance.

Requirements:

Education/Training. BS Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Graduate degree is beneficial.

Amount of Experience-based Knowledge and Skills. 5 years of experience working in a high performance internetworking and computing infrastructure environment.

Familiar with best practices and technologies for Clustering, Server farms, SAN and NAS Storage, Caching, and Load balancing.

5 years experience in Sun Solaris System Administration, performance, and monitoring disciplines with demonstrated proficiency.

Solid understanding of scripting/development languages such as CSH, KSH, SH, Perl, C and Java.

Experience in utilizing high-availability software, hardware, RAID, and backup/recovery strategies (Veritas Netbackup), familiar with Business Continuity/Disaster recovery practices.

Familiarity with internetworking (& Internet) concepts, Infrastructure and services (e.g. Routers & routing, Switches & Switching, TCP/IP, HTTP/S, Firewalls, Domain Name Service (DNS)df-tc
