JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Description: Responsibilities: Responsible for effectively applying technical knowledge to a sales situation and crafting solutions for clients. Establish and maintain a professional working relationship at multiple levels both internally and with the client by developing a core understanding of the clients unique business needs and competitive challenges. Tailor strategy and architect solutions to meet the needs of the client, and interface with both internal and external/industry experts to anticipate customer needs and facilitate solution development. Responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue, product, customer satisfaction and market share goals for assigned account(s). Expert: Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex business issues, and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems/projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients.
Business Specific Requirements: Tier 3 IIS/Web SE

As a Web Systems Engineer, youll see it take place every day as you work with the team that manages one of the largest sites on the web! The purpose of this role will be both strategic and tactical, as you are a key part of the engineering team that manages the delivery of software as a service. As a Web Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and running the systems and servers that constitute the companys corporate presence on the web. The position also involves working directly with the corporate IT group and our Internet Data Center as Tier3 support for all hardware and software problems they may have that they are not able to resolve themselves. As well as being an integral part of rolling out new technologies, products and services onto the Internet.

The position requires extensive knowledge of MS technology and vision and a broad industry perspective, and ability to manage delivery and maintenance of Web sites & services. The position requires working closely with internal customers and/or product team to provide the vision for the future in a fast paced, evolving and highly collaborative environment to ensure success on the Internet platform.

Web System Engineers work closely with Sr. Management, Product Group Representatives, System & Support Engineers, and related internal & external IT organizations.

Responsibilities:
Provide technical knowledge and systems planning to meet Availability and Uptime requirements
Coordinates or resolves complex systems issues and processes
Contributes to the strategic planning of projects and products
Creates the design, implementation and maintenance procedures required for supported sites & services
Drives deployment plans for production implementation and long term support
Proactively handles troubleshooting and resolution of site & services issues, and software problems that may affect operations
Provides analytical guidance to other team members and shares information with other System Engineers and third party partners by documenting complex operational procedures
Drives automation of routine tasks by leveraging technology available within and outside of Company
Capacity planning based on projections from program management and actual as-is load on sites & services
Communication channel for Test, Dev, Program Mgmt and Release Mgmt back to Operations Team members

Skills/Experience Required: ** Hands on experience supporting Internet facing server farms. **
Passion for building extremely scalable, stable and manageable internet systems.
Performance monitoring, trouble-shooting and site management for client/server architectures, particularly in W2K3, IIS 6.0 (Internet Information Services 6.0)
Server software installation, configuration and tuning
Experience with Internet server operation/engineering support in data center operations
Knowledge of supporting SQL Server connectivity from IIS web servers via ASP.NET applications

Experience with Windows 2003, IIS 6 scripting languages (e.g. VBScript, PERL, T-SQL), and networking protocols, Software and hardware installation, configuration, web server support, network design, backups, security, monitoring, hardware load balancing technologies and change control procedures.

College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related technical discipline is preferred and 4-5 years related experience

Excellent written and oral communication, project management skills required. Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating, and decision making skills also required

Candidates must have several years hands on experience not only installing and tuning but trouble-shooting IIS on Internet facing web farms/clusters. This Tier 3 position involves both server farm administration (Server 2003) and IIS6 troubleshooting.
