CTS Network Security Specialist

Job Summary

Maintain, and troubleshoot various information technology security systems. Analyze network device and system log files, configure information technology security software/hardware, and write and prepare security statistical reports.

Job Description
Implements information security interfaces in very complex computing systems, applications and network software/hardware; evaluates Internet-wide security threats in relation to local systems; communicates potential information security exploits to technical employees; develops and maintains enterprise-wide automated information technology security monitoring and reporting mechanisms; provide guidance to management in policy enforcement and perform security investigations at the direction of management; maintains various enterprise-wide network security control systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, wireless networks, virtual private networks, and network account access; analyze log files, and report breaches including potential solutions; monitor network traffic activity enterprise-wide; assist technical staff enterprise-wide in troubleshooting and resolving network security issues; provide technical support and resolutions for network outages; performs related duties as assigned.
Job requires some after hours and weekend work.
Experience Required

Three to five years experience administering firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
Experience conducting security assessments.
Three to five years experience administering VPNs.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: server operating systems; networking principles, design and architecture; information technologies system and network security software and hardware; In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and related applications & protocols; Understanding of SSL and IPsec VPN technology; perform network packet captures using various sniffers then decode and analyse for various security, application and performance issues.

Ability to: pay attention to detail; work within a large enterprise environment; analyze, diagnose, and correct problems related to security systems; recognize security breaches to network systems and act upon them; troubleshoot enterprise-wide information technology system and network security issues; communicate effectively orally and in writing, and establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties; be results oriented; ability to work under time pressure, exhibit flexibility and adapt to change.df-tc
