Windows Administrator

The Senior Windows Administrator will be a part of the global Windows team responsible for the corporate Windows environment. This role will be a very visible position and will be integral to operations within Sapient.

The Windows team is responsible for maintaining, securing, recovering, and supporting the global Windows environment - including Active Directory 2003, Windows servers, Windows file server, SMS 2003, patch management (using SUS and WSUS), and imaging Windows desktops, etc. Additionally, Windows team members are responsible for managing corporate backups (using BackupExec versions 9.x), helping development teams to architect their development environments, supporting general Windows issues, and acting as technical gurus for the other IT teams on Windows issues from a network, hardware, operating system, or application standpoint.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Strong understanding of Windows XP Professional, Windows2000, and Windows2003/R2 (familiarity for Unix operating systems is preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Windows2003 Active Directory (GPO creation, OU management/security, FSMO roles, writing custom LDAP queries, use of Adsiedit, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Windows networking in an enterprise environment
  • Fundamental understanding of Windows security from a LAN, WAN, and DMZ perspective
  • Several years experience with backup software technology, preferably with BackupExec and NT Backup
  • Solid understanding of backup hardware technology, specifically DLT and SDLT autoloaders
  • Good understanding of server hardware, particularly Compaq/HP hardware
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Strong independent problem solving skills
  • Scripting abilities are a big plus (VB, WSH, WMI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with anti-virus products in an enterprise environment (Symantec Corporate Edition is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of patch management best practices (Microsoft SUS/WSUS, patch testing, software deployment, etc.)df-tc
