SENIOR ASSOCIATE TECHNOLOGY

Roles and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
· Owning a specific Module/track or Coding a complex piece of the of the project architecture and understanding dependencies with other modules.
· Undertaking performing planning, estimation, resource management, issue resolution and quality assurance for a specific module/track.
· Working as part of an overall project team to develop, test, support and maintain business and critical applications (based on client requirements / project specifications).
· Investigating and fixing problems that may arise in current / new applications, implementing functional enhancements and monitoring applications to ensure stability and optimal performance.
· Participating in overall project planning. Establishing and clearly communicating work processes, performance standards and expectations of own track.

Secondary Responsibilities:
· Contributing to the growth & development of the technical community by training others, sharing knowledge and best practices.
· Leads a track 3-5 people to ensure timelines and quality are met and complete their performance reviews from time to time.
· Provides guidance and mentoring to his/her managees.
· Contributing to the office by helping with various activities / initiatives for the company or other project teams

Education:
Degree: Bachelor's degree required.

Discipline: 4+ years of education required, Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field desired.

Experience (coming into the title)

Industry:
· Industry Expertise desired (in relevant industry)

Years of Experience: 4 - 6 years

Project: Worked on IT projects (in technologies mentioned below), managed tracks or modules of 3 people or more, has been part of lifecycle of a project
Design: Required: Participated in Business or Technical Design AND
Implementation: Required: Participated in one or more implementation projects AND

Application Management:
· Required: Participated in one or more AM projects

Leadership:
· Required: Lead a module in implementation or application management

Technology Required:
· Proficient-Excels in one or more technologies, including but not limited to J2EE, .NET, XML, SOAP, JavaScript, Java, PL/SQL, C/C++, C#, Perl, TCL, COM/DCOM OR
· Proficient-Excels in one or more packages, including but not limited to Interwoven, Vignette, Oracle, SQLServer, Weblogic, iPlanet, WebSphere, TIBCO, MQSI, BizTalk, Vitria
· Proficient in UML
· Abstracts detail into larger (repeatable) patterns

Design Skills / OOAD:
· Is able to utilize OO design principles in creating custom software solutions or modifying package solutions.
· Is able to apply own understanding of the limits of the tools being used and understand the tradeoffs in the design phase vs. implementation.
· Ability to own and drive the technical design of a module with some oversight.
· Considers technical design and implementation alternatives for the module.
· Facilitates and/or communicates simple design conversations with the client. For e.g (can articulate the difference between various OO decisions like composition and inheritance, and the decision to choose one over the other).
· Ability to challenge business design when appropriate. Offers creative alternatives regarding technical design.

Technical Depth:
· Resolves simple technical issues.
· Ensures quality based on experience

Performance and scalability:
· Understands the concept of caching and typical ways to implement it

Development/Application maintenance:
· Writes good quality code - Applies language specific best practices (e.g. Uses StringBuffer in Java), applies performance considerations and can write well commented code.
· Is able to plan for a module with a team of 3-4 people or a complex technical track with upto 2 people.
· Strives for a deep understanding and expertise with the tools being used.
