Description
Develop, maintain, and support the database environment. Participate in projects relative to the design and implementation of physical database objects. Provide guidance to developers concerning design and data access requirements. Work with systems administration on hardware and operating system level requirements in support of the deployed database software. Propose ways to improve the environment and help set database administration direction. Lead and participate in large, cross-enterprise projects requiring strong analysis, design and leadership skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Create and maintain database tables, indexes, database utilities and supporting jobs.
Safeguard the security and integrity of the database environment.
Assist in performance monitoring and tuning of both application access and DBMS internals. Participate in volume, benchmarking, and stress testing of data access.
Troubleshoot, analyze and review application, architecture and vendor software failures and resolves requests, complex problems and outages in a timely and effective manner utilizing assistance from vendors and in-house resources. Respond appropriately to customer impact problems - understand business impact, identify and document root cause and symptoms of problem, develop schedules and implements permanent corrective action.
Lead technical forums to facilitate knowledge sharing among technical resources. Recommend, implement, and support new technologies as the data environment evolves.
Provide rotational 24 x 7 on-call support.
Handle vendor related issues concerning the support, implementation, upgrade and impact analysis, evaluation and selection of third-party products.
Understand and apply corporate standards, methodologies, processes, and procedures. Participate in the development of standards, tools, methodologies, processes, and procedures.
Perform personnel related activities including employee recruiting, interviewing, and mentoring.
Provide input into department planning, budgeting, project estimates, and project management.
Demonstrate the core competencies relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Required:
Minimum of 5 years Database Administration experience working with Oracle.
Minimum of 2 years Database Administration experience working with MS SQL Server.

Education and/or Experience:
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or eight to fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
