Description of Duties and Responsibilties: Conduct preliminary site evaluations to determine available water supply, hydrant locations and fire department access. Conducting fire hydrant flow tests. Meeting and negotiating with local building and fire officials. Design of automatic sprinkler systems for various projects with an emphasis on high-bay retail stores. Preparation of permit-ready sprinkler design documents-drawings, hydraulic calculations, specifications, equipment data sheets and related documentation.

Minimum Work Experience: 5 years

Special Skills Required: AutoCad; thourough knowledge of building and fire codes and standards (i.e., NFPA 13,14,& 22) relating to fire extinguishing systems; automatic sprinkler system hydraulic calculation methods and applications (e.g.., HASS); familiarity with computer sprinkler design software (e.g., Autosprink) is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Education Required: Associate degree or certificate(s)in automatic sprinkler system design program/courses or equivalent work experience. NICET Level II or higher. P.E. license preferred.
