Description
Purpose/Role Statement:
Independently, or as a member of a project team in conformance with IVUS's Quality System, develops, directs, and executes plans for major segments of complex projects. Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish technical specifications designed or modified products/processes. Reviews progress of projects against design criteria and standards; recommends appropriate revisions. Designs new products that contribute to the development of proprietary positions for BSC. Prepares reports to communicate results to technical community. Takes a leadership role in application and advancement of technologies developed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the conception, architecture and development of next generation intravascular ultrasound instrument.
  • Design next generation, high-speed data acquisition and DSP boards.
  • As an individual researcher, consistently generates innovative and unique solutions to expressed market needs. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined products, processes, or equipment.
  • As staff specialist to project teams, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects to be carried out by him/herself or others
  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is not advisable
  • Interacts with physicians to identify needs and problems and provide timely responses. Convert needs into product concepts and functioning prototypes.
  • Successfully completes engineering work in one of the following: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), and report preparation
  • Discloses patentable new product ideas
  • Fully support the Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of my work and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements (including but not limited to being current on all training requirements for my position and documenting that training.)

    Qualifications:
    BSEE or related discipline, plus 5+ years directly related experience; MS/Ph.D. degree may substitute for related industry experience where applicable; or equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform at this level. 5+ years of high-speed digital board design experience. Board level hardware design experience with high speed A/D, PLL, CPLD and FPGA, embedded controller and DSP is required. Proficiency in CAE tools (ViewLogic is preferred) including digital simulation.df-tc
