Description
The Senior Manager, Strategic IT Risk Management (Segment IT) is responsible for developing strategies to identify and track mitigation of significant IT and IT-related risks in all areas of Segment IT. This position will work closely with the Segment CIOs and designated Segment IT leaders at Studio IT, Disney Consumer Products IT, ESPN IT, Disney Media Internet Group (WDIG) IT, Disney-ABC Television Group IT, ABC Network IT, ABC Owned TV IT, WDPR IT and Walt Disney International IT.

Upon identification, modeling and categorization of segment IT risks, this position will strategize, develop and deliver a cohesive program providing a high, thin layer of integration to which s/he will apply standardized risk analyses and will track mitigation strategies to reduce impact and likelihood of significant threats and vulnerabilities to improve the overall Disney IT risk profile. This position will work closely with the Manager of Strategic IT Risk Management (EIT) and the Manager of IT Risk Healthcheck & Assessments to ensure integration into a single, non-redundant, holistic strategic IT risk management program, reporting to the Director, Strategic IT Risk Management.

This position will stay abreast of IT risk trends in the industry, providing predictive measures to inform Disney IT leaders. This position will also interface with Corporate Legal and Management Audit.

A successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with all levels of leaders and executives across the Company. A highly analytical mind; ability to recognize risk in events, projects and technologies; deep knowledge and experience of the Company and its leaders are needed. Due to the requirement to understand and evaluate controls across Segment IT, an educational and career background in IT audit with accreditation (CISA, CISM, CISSP) is desirable.
Job Responsibilities
Strategy, Development and Implementation (80% of time):
  • Provide identification, analyses, categorization and visibility of strategic IT risks to Segment CIOs and IT Leadership Board so Disney IT leaders will have a finer appreciation of the varying challenges and through informed understanding, provide guidance to the overall Disney IT organization as well as their individual organizations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Segment IT partners on key risks and control points within significant business processes and their supporting IT systems, functions, people and technologies; facilitating communication strategies to assist in determining IT-related risk across the business.
  • Develop the Segment IT program to be integrated into the overall Strategic IT Risk Management framework; ensure consistent implementation.
  • Stay abreast of best practices in IT risk management, such as evolving risk assessment methodologies and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop relationships with risk organizations within Disney and in the industry, including risk consortiums, vendors, etc.
  • Assist in the development of IT Key Risk Indicators to provide predictive measures for Segment IT leaders.
  • Assist in the development of the baseline annual IT risk report for the Audit Committee and Executive Sponsors, to be used to measure improvement over subsequent years, and provide forecast and analytical results.
  • Assist in developing an education and communication strategy to raise IT risk awareness.
    Leadership (20% of time):
  • Foster an environment of continuous focused improvement and structured controls to significantly reduce the Disney IT risk landscape and risk tolerance levels.
  • Be responsible for agreed upon Segment IT risk budget and allocation.
  • Manage resources; delegate work and assignments appropriately. Manage contractors and consultants; handle performance issues as needed. Guide and lead the team through change. Manage recruiting, employee relations and staff recognition and retention.
  • Develop training programs and other events for visibility of the IT risk profile.
    Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Disney IT experience is desirable, with progressive knowledge of the Disney organization, executives and leaders
  • 5+ years in an IT Audit function
  • 2+ years experience managing business process reengineering
  • 2+ years experience in IT Operations or Infrastructure Departments
  • Experience working with Senior Executive leadership
  • Strong desire to protect The Walt Disney Company name and brand
  • Critical skills; ability to identify root causes of complex risks; ability to prioritize based on complex factors; ability to gather evidence to show where the risk has come to life
  • Strong predictive skills; ability to comprehend consequences of decisions or actions and develop plans appropriately

  • Strong management and interpersonal skills that enables positive relationships with business units
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Established and collaborative relationships with IT business unit leaders and executives throughout the Disney organization
  • Experience understanding legal liabilities and potential exposure related to technology and IT risk
  • Broad understanding and experience in Disney’s IT organization on both infrastructure and applications sides
  • Proven experience with development of overarching strategies and management of such strategies and initiatives
  • Able to see the big picture and identify gaps which can lead to potential exposures and crises
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to supervise subordinates in work that is not yet well-defined
  • Experience with general planning, financial management, budgeting
  • MBA or other advanced degree, or additional 10 years related work experience.
  • Excellent computer skills such as Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project, Visio.df-tc
