GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position will be a key contributor to the development, implementation and growth of PolyOne’s Specialty Engineered Materials (SEM) Business strategy. This position has leadership responsibility for the key product growth platform for the SEM business.

This position also has direct and indirect interactions in support of the market development activities and strategies for the SEM Asia business team. This includes product line support for the 2 market development managers assigned to support Asia-based specification work in North America.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Develop and implement the strategic platform direction for the High Performance and Specialty EM product portfolio (Edgetek, Lubri-tech, Stat-tech, Therma-tech, Gravi-tech) including developing annual operating plan and 3-year plan for product segment. Define and measure key metrics.
-Manage profitability (P&L) of Specialty product portfolios to attain annual plan objectives. Implement action plans throughout year in-line with plan including assisting sales team with pricing quotations, calculating product costs, establishing standard pricing, reviewing raw material cost changes and implementing pricing actions as needed. Manage PPT platform team.
-Travel to key direct and POD accounts to review progress against plan, review specific customer-related projects, and attend appropriate trials in support of product platform development.
-Define and implement key marketing and marketing communications plans to establish strong brand equity and product preference for SEM Specialty products in defined customer and market segments.
-Provide product platform assistance as needed in support of NA specification development for Asia Business team.
-Assist Sourcing Group in developing strategic relationships with key raw material suppliers and coordinating core raw material supply chain goals for each year in support of the annual plan objectives.
-Assist the General Manager in defining commercial opportunities for process improvement, such as price.
-Helps evolve the team from a tactical reactive organization to a proactive decision-making team that utilizes data and processes.
-Employee must be willing to travel periodically within North America to key customers.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-Four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Masters preferred
-Prior knowledge and experience in creating brand equity through proactive marketing and market communications activities is a plus.
-Must have functional capability or exhibit capability to learn basic SAP profitability and transactional activity query usage
-Ability to manage multiple projects
-Must be a team player that values others

Required Length & Type of Experience:
-5 years of product management experience
-Prior experience in Engineering Thermoplastic resins and compounds with a major producer is preferred.
-Demonstrated track record of successful new market development and new market penetration, and prior experience in creating primary demand and specifications at the major end-user/OEM level.
-Prior experience in Business Equipment, Electrical and Electronics, and Transportation sectors is beneficial.
