Affiliated Computer Services, Inc (ACS) is seeking a self-motivated, self-starting Sr. SCM Engineer to lead the IT organization in developing department-wide best practices and procedures around software configuration management as it pertains to the organization's software initiatives and software applications.

The Sr. SCM Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, build and release schedules and management of all software work products for the company's software applications and initiatives. Responsibilities also include coordinating with business analysts, software developers, software quality assurance engineers and project managers on all system change requests and projected build schedules. Define, execute and assist the department in adhering to IT policies around software version control, work approvals, build/releases and software configuration.

Additionally this candidate will continually work with IT management on identifying areas for improvement with regards to software change management, build/release processes and formal SDLC and/or ALM practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in formalizing and evangelizing policies and procedures with regards to internal IT SCM practices.
  • Manage and maintain software work products for all software initiatives within the organization (i.e. source code, change documents, SDLC artifacts)
  • Work on constantly improving and streamlining the software change request process and build/release process.
  • Author and execute product build scripts.
  • Automate product builds and cross checks between software change requests and source code repositories.
  • Package binaries for dev, integration, test and product distributions.
  • Continually work with software developers and QA analysts on identifying and including proper change requests into the organization's software internal applications.
  • Will interface with the production operation staff on defining and working through software migration to production server environments.

    Strongly Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years as a process and tool administrator in a formal CM environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years operating and administering enterprise software change control system such as Microsoft Team Foundation Server or Rational ClearCase.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in writing windows scripts, command-line BATCH files or other scripting technologies.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2000/2003 operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of software-build automation through scripting technologies such as ant/nant, ms-build, make/nmake, etc.
  • Solid understanding of various software development lifecycles as they pertain to SCM.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented applications, relational databases, build-to-package release processes and planning & scheduling experience is necessary.
  • Required understanding of SOA, distributing computing and n-tier architecture.
  • CMM or CMMI experience a plus. (as it pertains to SCM)
  • Microsoft .NET or J2SE/J2EE experience a plus.
  • BS degree in computer science a plus.
