We are currently seeking aSenior Software Engineer Mainframe. Thisposition will bebased out of Harland Clarke's Corporate Office in San Antonio, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide analytical technical and administrative knowledge in the life cycle of information technology solutions and systems software. Serves as a technical or system expert for project during requirements and design phases of the project. Researches designs and implements systems according to user specifications. Develops processing archiving and recovery procedures for systems. Writes new programs and modifies existing programs. Provides technical assistance in answering user questions. This position works within a highly interactive team environment and works closely with both functional and technical staff to lead and implement solutions to business requirements.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Interface with business customers assess customer requirements evaluate alternatives develop creative solutions gather and document requirements in a macro design document. Create detailed program specifications in a micro document. Develop unit test cases. Develop documentation for new and existing code. Act as the IT lead on projects insure work plans are executed maintain and submit accurate progress reports for each project to management. Provide input for cost/benefit analysis of proposals estimation of budgets and time lines and resources required for successful and timely completion of projects. Participate in the preparation of detailed work plans for business process improvement efforts and related technology solutions. Develop detailed procedural documentation and training materials. Must have the ability to properly prioritize and work multiple tasks. Follows the software development methodology to ensure quality implementation. Follows the change control processes to ensure integrity of the production environment. Provides technical assistance to users. Mentors team members. Provides on call support as required. Monitor and resolve production support requirements. Provide follow up and status.

EDUCTION & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or Information Systems. Masters degree is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / ABILITIES REQUIRED: ·· 5-7 years of analysis and programming experience in a mainframe environment. · Excellent analytical problem solving troubleshooting and decision making skills. · Strong customer service and teamwork skills. · Strong programming skills in JCL COBOL CICS DB2 SQL/QMF TSO ISPF Editor NDM FTP and XML. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Able to work with different teams bringing teams together to form solutions facilitating meetings and discussions. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to plan coordinate and work effectively in a team environment with a diverse group of resources from both the technical and business staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
COMMUNICATION & CONTACTS REQUIRED: · This position in Partner Services is in constant contact with other corporate employees software vendors and Clarke partners. · This position in Architecture and Development is in constant contact with other corporate employees and software vendors.
DECISION MAKING: OTHER: Preferred Experience Skills and Abilities · Experience using WebSphere Developer for zSeries. · Experience or knowledge of Ideal programming and Datacomm database. · Knowledge of Project Management certified PMP.
