Sr. Software Engineer - Disney Online

POSITION SUMMARY

The Software Engineer candidate will be a lead for Registration technology platform(s) at Disney Online, working to create new architectures and websites, update existing websites, create Flash-related platforms and components, as well as provide technical leadership, feedback, and oversight for various technical initiatives. This candidate should excel in all components of Java development and technical architecture skill set, as well as the Web Development skill set including: x/HTML, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, Management systems including caching layers, CDNs, and content systems, as well as site maintenance and troubleshooting.

It is a plus if candidates for this position should also have experience in registration systems or other related membership systems, including localization capabilities, component-based architecture, experience in improving ongoing maintenance tasks, and scalability. Additionally, experience working with Personally Identifiable Information.

Candidate should have experience driving technology-wide architectures, platform decisions, processes, provide technical architecture and oversight, as well as communicate technical decisions and processes. The Senior Engineer will manage client and business expectations, including timelines, technical deliverables, and feature management. This candidate should have the proven ability to deliver projects successfully and on time with little oversight required.

Candidates for this position are also expected to constantly improve production delivery techniques, and the ability to help standardize that process and improve upon it. This candidate should have exceptional technical skills, proven people and team management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.



QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

· Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, or EE preferred
· Expert knowledge of Java, DHTML, CSS and JavaScript
· Expertwith .jsp, .php, .cfm, or .asp (or similar object-oriented server-side scripting languages)
· Experience working with APIs, such as SOAP or REST, is preferred
· Proven ability to work with and provide leadership to all members of a diverse project team
· Content Management System Architecting experience
· Experience drafting requirements, use cases, capacity planning, and functional specifications
· Proven ability to lead technical projects and technical teams
· Extensive structured and object-oriented programming experience
· Ability to multi-task and manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
· Experience with leading geographically separated projects and teams is a plus


SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED


Strong knowledge of Java, with experience with Spring, Struts, Hibernate, etc preferred
Web Technologies - HTML, JavaScript, HTTP, Servlets, JSP, PHP, XML, SOAP, AJAX
Databases - MS SQLServer, SQL, JDBC
Application/Web servers - Tomcat, IIS (EJB containers, Apache a plus)
Experience working with source control systems (VSS, CVS, PVCS, etc.)
Experience with PERL, ANT, XML
Experience with Content Management Systems and Web Publishing
Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming and Design
Web Application Best Practices
