Description
The Role:
The company is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a strong electromechanical systems background to join its Morgan Hill, CA research and development facility. The systems Engineer will be tasked with developing, modifying and perfecting Companys next generation IV pump and related multi-channel versions; this project will allow the right individual to follow the product from conception through launch. In addition, he/she will be involved in updating and modifying future product releases and ensuring that all live up to Companys high standards for electromechanical performance and capability,

Responsibilities:
Create system-level specifications, perform and direct the design, implementation, integration and test of all aspects of the systems electro-mechanical performance.
Manage and coordinate resources to achieve program objectives across a team consisting of permanent Company engineers as well as external technology and solution partners.
Heavily contribute to the product cross-disciplinary system requirements definition and process development.
Identify, assess and mitigate risk, including the creation of hazards analysis documents and failure modes and effects criticality analysis documentation.
Identify approaches, prove concepts, make recommendations, propose solutions, and evaluate new technologies and design trade-offs required for achieving defined cost, performance and reliability targets while meeting regulatory compliance requirements.
Develop scope, plan and direction for programs/projects by integrating multiple technical functions.
Optimize solutions from a systems point of view by taking into account the effect of any change on the other parts of the systems and supporting functions.
Conduct investigations of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes, and investigate possible applications of the results.

The engineer will perform a key hands-on role in product development and must be comfortable working side-by-side with team members and contractors. Demonstrated background in electromechanical and systems-level engineering.
Results-oriented and hands-on tendency, demonstrated by ability to be a doer versus a thinker
Ability to design and verify high-production quality products and perform in a heavily regulated industry.
Ability to apply advanced engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.
Ability to perform design of experiments, worst-case analysis, error budgeting, system simulations, FMECA.
Ability to apply understanding of manufacturing principles to create products that are designed for manufacturability.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build strong work relationships with others, both within Companys cross-functional teams and with solution partners.

Experience:
BSEE is a must.
Minimum of 15 years prior experience in product development, including extensive functional and project management experience in development for embedded applications.
At least 10 years of hands-on design experience as an individual cdf-tc
