Description
Aon Service Corporation has an opportunity for a Senior Systems Specialist supporting McLagan Partners, part of Aon Consulting.

The primary responsibility of this role is to act as the primary software engineer within the McLagan suite of applications. This individual should have experience writing concise, high quality code, working effectively in a team environment as well as providing ongoing communication to senior management.
Key responsibilities include:
?Work with business analysts and business users to define new software requirements and application performance expectations
?Assist business analysts in the definition of requirements and test cases
?Creating technical specifications, use cases, and design documents
?Participation in design and architecture discussions
?Design supporting data structures to meet established requirements and enhancements
?Follow industry best practices regarding programming standards and coaching less experienced staff members.
?Stay abreast of leading industry technologies outside of programming.
?Provide overall architectural oversight of applications.
?Experience providing end-to-end system solutions including all phases of SDLC, requirements, deployment, testing, documentation.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
?Seven to ten years in a software development environment
?Prior experience with structured software development methodology
?Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate and explain and present solutions discuss problems with key project stakeholders
?Ability to understand business requirements and create well-structured software designs to meet them.
?Ability to estimate project deliverable timelines and deliver on schedule
?Demonstrated success in designing effective software architectures that meet established business requirements
?Understanding of database structures and database query skills
?Computer Science degree

Currently used technologies include Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005, VB.NET 2003/2005, ASP.Net, Visual Basic 6.0, Microsoft Access 2000/2003, VBA, C++, and C#, XML.
This position is based in Chicago and reports to the Global Applications Development Manager who is based out of Stamford.df-tc
