Sr. Application Developer - Reports/Letters

• The lead is looking for the following requirements in the initial phone interview with the candidate:


• Development experience in Datawarehouse and data mart environments.


• Design/Development experience:  either Informatica or Business Objects.


• Ability to understand concepts.


• The primary responsibilities of this position are complex application maintenance and support.


• With minimal supervision, provides support to existing production applications; and performs complex technical analysis, design, development and implementation of new applications using existing and emerging technology.


• Under minimal direction and support provides application analysis, solution design, documentation, integration, development, testing and deployment.


• Provides mentoring and knowledge transfer to Application Developers including providing input to performance evaluations, training and developing staff and assigning work to staff and directs the workflow assigned to his/her area of jurisdiction.


• Support complex business process, problem analysis and consultation.


• Process complex open defect/maintenance tickets and correct complex technical errors.


• Ensure application, P2P and promotion package documentation is current and complete.


• Provide after hours "on call" support.

• Ability to ensure SDLC methodology is followed, including conducting inspections and post implementation reviews required.


• Ability to act as a primary liaison with business personnel to conduct analysis of organizational needs for development and modifications of new and existing applications required.


• Ability to create detailed technical design, code, test, debugs, document, and maintain applications required.


• Knowledge of FTP and HIPAA compliant ANSI formatted EDI transactions required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, computer information systems or related field required or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree an additional five (5) years of development/support experience required in addition to the experience requirement listed below.


• At least 2 years of experience: Business Objects and/or BRIO (or similar reporting application) experience required. OR Informatica Power Center and Informatica Power Exchange (or similar ETL application) experience required.


• Five (5) years experience working in a support/development environment required including:


• Minimum three to five (3 - 5) years' Relational database (Sybase or Oracle) development and debugging experience (Transact-SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, indexes, etc.)


• Minimum three to five (3 - 5) years data mapping, translation, and conversion experience required.


• Minimum three to five (3 - 5) years structured and ad hoc report design and development experience required.


• Minimum three to five (3 - 5) years' development experience in Datawarehouse and data mart environments.


• Understanding of Datawarehouse modeling techniques including Star and Snowflake schemas.


• Understanding and following SDLC methodology required.


• Testing procedures including creation of test cases/scripts, test data and validation of results required.


• Experience with coordinating activities/timelines with multiple projects required.

Preferred Skills:

• Java, J2EE, C , and/or Visual Basic application development experience preferred.


• Application design experience preferred.


• Three to five (3 - 5) years PVCS Version Manager (or similar source code management system) experience preferred.


• Three to five (3 - 5) years Unix/AIX experience preferred (commands, syntax, Shell scripting, batch file processing, file transfer, etc.)


• Health care insurance systems experience preferred.


• Knowledge of Health Care processing preferred.


• Occasional travel within the state may be required.
