Senior Applications Analyst Job Description : - Overview : Responsible for production support of vendor maintained applications and development of one-off Market application systems. Works closely with other IT groups, including database, system administration, and operations. Expected to monitor, deploy applications, resolve technical problems and generate reports requested by the operational departments and management. Supports business functions including, Day Ahead energy market, Real-time energy market, Locational Marginal Pricing, and Financial Transmission Rights. Works with Operations staff to help meet their operational requirements and vendors in integration, and testing of applications software. - Responsibilities : 1.Learn and support business, technical, and functional requirements of software systems. 2.Learn and support systems provided by vendors. 3.Develop test procedures and perform validation and acceptance tests. 4.Use and maintain test and operational systems. 5.Know and use standards and processes for software engineering. 6.Develop applications and scripts to support the Market Application group functions. 7.Comply with control activities and function in support of audit standards. Travel approximately 20% - Qualification : Education: B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience: Technical experience with SQL, Oracle, and JAVA. Knowledge of: a.Knowledge of electric utility operations and applications including experience in development, design, and support of production grade software. b.Experience in development, design, and support of operational production applications. c.Knowledge of the information systems development life cycle, proficiency on multiple operating systems, as well as proficiency in several programming languages and development tools. Ability to: Grasp technical concepts and develop long-term plans and programs. Skills: a.Excellent computer programming skills. b.Excellent problem-solving skills. c.Ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment. d.Good communication skills; both written and verbal; ability to present technical information to non-technical people. e.Good innovation skills; ability to generate and convey ideas quickly. f.Good organizational skills. g.Customer service excellence h.Foster teamwork and work/life balance i.Implement company policies appropriately j.Analytical thinking
