Description
Position: Senior Applications Developer
Location: Chicago, IL (loop area)
Long term Open Ended Contract 40 hour weeks normal business hours.

Smartsource is seeking a senior applications developer who has experience working with ASP.NET, JavaScript, SQL, and other web-based technologies.

Requirements
Mandatory Working Experience
" Two years of JavaScript development in an AJAX architecture
" Three years development experience in HTML, CSS, and XHTML
" Three years of XML, XSLT, and ASP.NET development
" Advanced fluency in SQL. Proficiency with complex stored procedure development.
" Has worked in multi-developer environments participating in full development lifecycle from design through product rollout

Mandatory Qualifications
" Thorough understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts
" Thorough understanding of database concepts
" Experience with a SQL-based server product
" Demonstrable capability for application visual design
" Strong communication, problem solving, and research skills
" Strong enthusiasm for working with computers and the creation of quality software

Desirable Qualifications
" Experience with other object-oriented languages, including any .NET language
" Experience with PVCS Version Manager and/or Microsoft Visual SourceSafe
" Familiarity with data warehouse concepts
" Experience with System Change Management processes
" Microsoft Sharepoint portal server
" Microsoft Office development
" Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities
" Act as a full service resource for design and development of web-based applications
" Collaborate with other teams on application visual design
" Organize details and manage the promotion of applications to testing and production environments.
" Manage the source control process
" Track and follow through on reported production errors and issues
" Troubleshoot and improve performance of the application
" Thoroughly understand all facets of our application environment (network, server and desktop infrastructure)
" Commit to quality and completeness
" Occasional weekend/after-hours work may be required to assist in application rollouts
