Position Summary
The Business Process Analyst is responsible for developing plans, requirements and estimates for systems integration projects with an emphasis on financial reporting and governance. The business process analyst will be the bridge between WDIG finance and accounting and WDIG software development and will coordinate project systems analysis activities between these teams. The projects focus on the integration of front of house and back of house financial systems where the front of house systems include online advertising, online purchase of goods, and premium subscription online services. The related financial processes include cash accounting/reconciliation, revenue recognition, tax reporting, change management, and compliance with regulatory standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley and SAS70. The role works closely with the office of the controller, the technology finance team and central engineering team to ensure tracking of requirements from project definition through production delivery.
Specific Responsibilities include:
  • Develop business analysis deliverables, including but not limited to workflows and process models, business requirements, use cases, and business rules.
  • Resolve business requirements issues, working with the finance and engineering teams.
  • Develop systems analysis plans and work estimates.
  • Lead project systems analysis activities.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports.
  • Identify functional, systems, and performance requirements.
  • Analyze system integration functional requirements.
  • Prepare detailed functional specifications, data migration/conversion specifications, UI specifications, and product configuration specifications.
  • Coordinate specification review with business, technical, and training staff.
  • Evaluate system designs for functional integrity.
  • Assist the engineering team in developing test plans and review plans for functional integrity.
  • Support release transition into production.
  • Provide guidance to the Program Management Office and the Architecture teams, as requested, in support of problem definition, business analysis, risk analysis, prototyping, and product evaluation.
  • Analyze production issues escalated to the systems analysis team.
  • Define and implement the processes for systems change management.

    Required Qualifications
  • BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, or related field, or demonstrate equivalent training or business experience.
  • Minimum eight years experience as a Systems Analyst or Business Process Analyst or equivalent, or ten years relevant experience in business systems.
  • Minimum four years experience developing financial processes such as revenue recognition and compliance with regulatory standards.

    Specific Skills Required
  • Experience with finance systems is required
  • Working knowledge of SAS70 and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for financial reporting & controls
  • Dedication to customer service.
  • Ability to meet the demands of multiple projects and deadlines effectively with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent analytic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent functional analysis skills.
  • Extensive experience writing functional specifications for complex systems.
  • Exceptional analysis modeling skills and a knowledge of modeling notations such as UML.
  • Strong analysis and software development process background.
  • Extensive experience with multi-tiered architectures, including UI design, business rules layer, and data architecture.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented systems analysis and design is desired.
  • Exceptional interviewing and negotiation skills applicable to identifying, defining, and evaluating requirements.
