Description




The Long-Range Communications group requires the Systems Engineer to support development activities involving SATCOM and derivative/related equipment. This individual will be charged with creating specifications based on the customer's needs and communicating those specifications both verbally and in writing to the SATCOM engineering teams. It will be essential that the successful candidate be able to take the ambiguity out of the specification development process and communicate clear and concise directions to hardware and software personnel.

Qualifications
In order to generate system specifications for this equipment, the candidate should have experience in the airborne satellite communication arena, and be well-acquainted with interfacing cabin equipment (i.e., FAX, PC data, router servers, telephones, etc.) found in BGA cabins as well as avionics equipment (e.g., MCDU, ACP, etc.) present in ATS cockpits. Knowledge of avionics systems installation and FAA certification requirements is also necessary. This individual will work closely with software and hardware engineers.
The successful candidate should also possess the following:

â?¢ B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of seven years experience with SATCOM systems, airborne avionics and specification development.
â?¢ Be a creative, innovative problem solver
â?¢ Have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
â?¢ Have high self-motivation and be results-driven, with an ability to function with little direct supervision
â?¢ Be able to handle multiple simultaneous programs effectively
â?¢ Be able to assist end-to-end system troubleshooting/testing as a function of specification testing
â?¢ Have a broad, general acquaintance with FAA certification requirements
â?¢ Have a working knowledge of telecommunications and network equipment commonly interfacing with SATCOM/Airsat II equipment from the aircraft cabin
â?¢ Experience working on Cabin and Cockpit equipment desired
