WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) is seeking an individual who administers and controls an organization's mainframe DB2 database system in an IBM z/OS environment. Evaluate, plan, install, and maintain DB2 system software and related software tools and utilities. Support and ensure the integrity of the DB2 databases, and identify and resolve database problems, performance and capacity issues.

The ideal candidate should have current Systems Programming experience supporting DB2 for z/OS Version 8, including migration, and posses the skills needed to investigate and resolve problems and performance issues within the DB2 subsystems. The chosen candidate will have experience in DB2 database performance tuning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and problem determination in a 24 x 7 environment. Additionally, candidate will provide support for DB2 UDB on open systems platforms. It is preferred that the candidate has experience with supporting and maintaining DB2 on operating system platforms such as AIX, Linux and Windows. Candidate will interact with database systems such as SQL , MySQL and Oracle.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Creation of database objects and maintaining their physical relationships
* Develop and implement a database performance monitoring process and analyze collected data for performance optimization opportunities
* Create and implement database maintenance plans to ensure data integrity and evaluate the effectiveness of backup and recovery processes
* Plan and execute any required database upgrades and migration (new versions, patches etc.)
* SMP/E and standard IBM utilities experience is essential
* Provide support to application development teams on database technical issues, techniques and SQL review
* Recommend and perform database and index reorgs as required

SKILLS & ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum 4 or more years of current experience as a DB2 Database support role
* Strong Database Management skills, including backup and recovery procedures
* Solid skills in database performance, monitoring and tuning
* Strong skills in maintenance tools and procedures
* Solid skills with SQL, one or more programming languages and design technique
* CICS Transaction Server support experience desired.
* Database replication and DB2 LUW administration experience desired.
* Well versed in DB2 Connect and Stored Procedures.
* Use of tools such as Goal Systems DB2I2, IBM DB2 PM & IBM DB2 Admin

Desired experience include working with: CA Datacom/AD, CA-Ideal, DB2 applications DBA support, DB2 Connect, DB2 UDB, JAVA Stored Procedures, CICS V2.3.
