Genesis10 in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Level DB2 DBA for a 3-month contract position in the Columbus, OH area. This project is scheduled to begin early November, 2004.

Background:
Our client maintains several large and complex distributed systems running In IBM AIX Unix and Sun Solaris environments such as, but not limited to, the Integrated Case Management System (ICMS), the Sharing Career Opportunities and Training Information (SCOTI), Ohio Job Insurance (OJI) and various other client server based applications.
There are a variety of smaller applications that run on Windows 2000. These duties include scheduling and executing the system's components for batch processing, maintaining on-line availability, design, maintenance and tuning of the system's databases, providing technical support and administering all aspects of security and disaster recovery planning. Each section provides services across the entire enterprise.
The database administration section creates, tunes, and maintains databases for the department's various hierarchical and relational systems in many environments up to and including production.
Most of the relational databases are very large and complex in nature.
With the increased demand for new database design and modifications to existing databases, there is a need for senior level consulting staff.
The relational databases will run on the IBM mainframe platform and also in the client server environment, which is mainly IBM AIX UNIX with a subset being Sun Solaris.

Objectives:
We need to acquire qualified senior level Database Administrators who have the technical expertise to perform the needed database administration tasks in order to fulfill customer requirements and requests.
It will be the contractor's obligation to ensure that the consultant obtained through the contract not only has the technical knowledge to perform the required database functions, but will help the state meet the needs of the customer and also help ODJFS move in the direction as defined in the IT strategic plan.

Scope of Work:
The senior level Database Administrators must complete the work described below, as required.
Work performed by these Database Administrators includes, but is not limited to:
. Perform and/or assist with database maintenance activities such as: backups, recoveries, restores,
Reorganizations, and image copies of databases in the test through production environments.
. Create and/or assist in the creation of JCL for jobs that will be run in a test through production
environment.
. Create and/or assist in the creation of JCL that will be used to run database utilities or any other jobs that are required to perform database administration functions.
. Perform/ and or assist with the project plan, testing, and implementation of DB2, Oracle, SQL, software upgrades and the testing of relational database administration utilities.
. Create and/or assist with the creation of database files starting in the test environment up through production.
. Provide input into the technical architecture of systems development
. Monitor the batch and on-line DB2 environments and make recommendations and implement any tuning or buffering techniques to enhance the performance of such environments.
. Make recommendations about the database structure, indexes, and file access methods.
. Provide technical assistance to the application development area and coworkers about system analysis, design and programming.
. Communicate with the user community and coworkers to assess needs, resolve problems, and provide technical assistance where necessary relating to database functions.
. Provide knowledge transfer and technical training to junior level State database analysts.
. Evaluate user requirements and recommend optimum DBMS to support user projects.
. Perform as a team lead/project lead in activities that are associated with database design, programming, project implementation, analysis, performance monitoring and tuning.
. Review, participate in, and make recommendations to the disaster recovery plans for the various
relational projects.
. Conduct feasibility studies including time, cost, and manpower estimates for database projects.
. Create and/or provide input into project plans for database projects providing timelines and resources
required. Effectively communicate project progress including obstacles, corrective actions, assumptions,
risks, milestones, anddf-tc
