Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Our client is seeking a Senior DBA with exceptional skills and experience in administering IBM DB2 UDB on both Microsoft Windows 2000 and IBM AIX.
. The candidate will be responsible for making critical decisions for database deployment, control processes and procedures for implementation and maintenance of multiple DB2 UDB Instances containing multiple databases.
. Candidate will identify, plan and support database version and release upgrades in coordination with application vendors and the UNIX/DBA group.
. Should be able to coordinate tasks, identify efficiency areas and mobilize the team to deliver deployment strategies and documentation.
. Candidate will mentor and provide OJT for 2 or 3 in-house DBAs, document SOPs and transition to the DBAs assigned. This will be one of the primary day-to-day tasks.

REQUIRED SKILLS
. DB2 Performance Tuning
. Demonstrated mentoring/training skills
. Experience integrating DB2 with Tivoli monitoring and TSM backups
. IBM DB2 UDB Admin on AIX & W2K
. DB2 Backup, Recovery & Reorg Exp.
. Tech leadership / documentation
. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in shell scripting and creating easy to follow backup and recovery procedures (SOPs) for the DB2 database environments, preferably procedures integrated with the TSM backup product.
. Must have experience with database reorganization, database startup and shutdown and automating procedures on both the Windows 2000 and AIX platforms.
. Candidate should have experience working with DB2 in a High Availability AIX HACMP environment.
. Candidate must be able to establish performance-monitoring baselines, both at the server level and the transaction level, for each DB2 database.
. The candidate must have demonstrated mentoring and training skills.
