Description
The professional in this role will:

Conduct analysis, design, testing, documentation, implementation/configuration and support of data networking technologies;
Develop network architecture and perform detailed engineering reviews of design and deployment plans;
Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for a Cisco-based data network infrastructure layer 2/3 refresh as required;
Current knowledge of the latest advances in network and communication technologies, standards, vendor products and services including:
o Network Technologies (TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, IPv6, VLANs);
o Security Standards, to include IPSec, 802.1x, and the publication NIST SP 800-58;
o IP Telephony (VoIP, SIP, H.323, MGCP);
o Carrier & Broadband Services (DS3, OCx, T-1, VPN, GigE).

Experience/Skills
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience with the follow skills:

Proven experience in designing and implementing multi-site, distributed, Cisco-based data networks and infrastructure, to include hardware and software that is Voice over IP (VoIP) capable;
Experience with VoIP and associated protocols to include H323, SIP, and MGCP;
Designing, configuring, implementing and troubleshooting Layer 2 and 3 protocols including Quality of Service (QoS), Class of Service (CoS), and Differentiated Services (DiffServ) in a Cisco environment;
Industry standard interior and exterior routing protocols: RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP;
Industry standard network management protocols and applications, i.e., SNMP, HP Openview and CiscoWorks;
Designing, implementing, configuring and troubleshooting large-scale IP networks;
Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting a large converged network infrastructure in a Cisco environment (mixed environment helpful);
Designing, configuring, implementing and troubleshooting large local area networks that include VLANs;
Interfacing VoIP networks with circuit switched telephony networks;
Strong TCP/IP and multi-protocol network experience with analysis of network traces, including Sniffer/Ethereal/Etherpeek, Cisco network analysis tools.

Candidates must also have the following:

An active interim Secret security clearance or higher;
An undergraduate degree in engineering, math, or science (preferred);
Ability to travel nationally 30-40%.
