SENIOR DATA WAREHOUSE ENGINEER

Disney Interactive Media Group is the division of The Walt Disney Company responsible for the global creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles.

POSITION SUMMARY
Come join us in building an enterprise Data Warehouse that consolidates Disney’s vast data sources that represent the Web’s most popular sites and services, including Disney.com, ABC.com, ABCNews.com, ESPN.com, FamilyFun.com, Movies.com and Go.com; and contribute to the Walt Disney Internet Group’s centralized engineering effort in creating a world-class DW platform that provides metrics and decision support reporting for Disney’s online virtual worlds that, among other things, serve a billion ads a day, all scaled from WDIG Seattle!
This is an opportunity for a SQL Server 2000 & 2005 developer with a passion for working with business customers and building world-class capabilities. Build it from the ground up and do it right based upon your experience and ability to develop innovative solutions. This position contributes to the success of the ODS and DW projects with SQL Server 2000 DTS and SQL Server 2005 SSIS skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
  • 5 – 7 years experience development DTS packages in SQL Server 2000.
  • 1 – 2 years experience development SSIS packages in SQL Server 2005.
  • 3 - 5 years scripting experience (Visual Basic or Visual Basic.Net preferred).
  • 5-7 years technology experience.
  • Experience designing and modifying complex data schemas.
  • Experience developing to rapidly evolving technical specifications.
  • Experience working with large-scale data warehouse environments Experience working with operational reporting systems.
  • Experience working with multiple, cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of successful systems implementation and ongoing efforts to support and improve systems relevant project management experience/understanding of project management methodologies.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Experience understanding business requirements documentation with an eye toward achieving business goals.
  • Experience documenting engineering requirements within the framework of a Software Development Lifecycle, and following those recommendations.
  • Ability to complete tasks on time/budget and with minimal management oversight Extensive experience with SQL Server 2005 required.
  • Experience with other enterprise DW DB systems such as Netezza and ETL tools such as DataStage will be a plus.
  • Great written and oral communication skills Ability to quickly adapt to evolving and growing needs of business Experience negotiating with both business and technical audiences.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technology requirements.
