Description
Sr. Database Administrator
The Sr. Database Administrator will be responsible for supporting multiple Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g and Postgres 7 databases in development and production on Solaris and Linux operating systems. We are seeking an individual with 5+ years of hands-on experience with database in a production environment. The position is part of the IT/Operations group which consists of System Administrators whose primary responsibility is to maintain the production SaaS environment as well as the development and testing infrastructure. This position requires the candidate to provide support during off hours and weekends when necessary.

Responsibilities Include
Installation, configuration and upgrade of database software with other operations team members
Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures
Implement and proactively maintain a secure database environment
Database tuning and performance monitoring
Assisting in Physical and Logical Database design, architecture and implementation
Capacity Planning in anticipation of growth and changes to the environment
Establishment and management of key database and system metrics
Setup and maintain documentation and standards
Setup and maintain database management and maintenance standard procedures aligned with industry best practices
Perform technical troubleshooting and provide consultation to development teams
Monitoring applications at the database level and identifying problem areas and hot-spots, isolating issues and recommending solutions
Evaluate new database features and related technical products
Support Oracle DataGuard setup with a remote disaster recovery site
Establishment of best practices for disaster recovery testing and test planning
Track and resolve database issues using in-house ticketing system

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related.

Candidates must have knowledge in the following areas:

Oracle 9i, 10g, 10gR2 experience
Postgres 7 experience
Relational database concepts/design
Strong experience administering databases in a Unix environment via command line
Strong DBA fundamentals
Solid "production environment" mind set
Proven ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Proven ability to perform database performance tuning and monitoring
Excellent problem solving and communication skills
Knowledge and first hand experience with Oracle backup and recovery best practices
Knowledge and first hand experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery database best practices
Proficiency in Database security management
Proficiency in Perl and UNIX scripting tools
Familiarity with SAN preferred
Some Oracle PL/SQL experiencedf-tc
