Job Description: Sr. Design Engineer Education/Experience: BSEE with 7-10 years RF/Microwave design experience. Primary Responsibility: Responsible for the planning, evaluation, documentation and development of components, sub-assemblies and sub-systems for the Microwave Solid State Division. Primary activities include: Develops RF/Microwave components and assemblies, integrates designs and tests for standard and custom products.Perform detailed designs, generating schematics, conducting computer simulations, performing worst case analysis. Developing prototypes/breadboards, tests and evaluates designs, and directs circuit board layouts. Develops and performs component, module and subsystem test, verification, and optimization procedures and ATPs. Assists in customer bid and pricing proposals. Responds to RFQ/RFPs. Supervising Assemblers, Drafters, Technicians and Engineering Assistants. Required knowledge and skills: Basic Microwave circuits: A thorough understanding of microstrip and stripline active and passive components (i.e. switches, attenuators, divider/combiners, couplers) including both low and high power devices. Capable of creating and modifying RF designs to meet basic specs such as required Loss, VSWR, BW, video, IP3's, etc. Automated circuit design: Must be familiar with automated circuit design (Ansoft, Eagle, Microwave Office or similar) Hybrid/chip and wire Design and Assembly Processes Defense/Military Component/Sub-system experience Additional Desired Design Knowledge: Microwave Filter Design: Capable of designing high, low and band pass lumped element and coaxial filters compatible with microstrip and stripline assemblies along with compensating filters and linear phase shifters Microwave Amplifier Design Microwave Mixer Design Additional Basic Skills (Required): Scheduling and pricing: Accurate input required for bids Accurate quote information relative to Engineering and Production costs Test, tune and troubleshoot components and assemblies including: Filters, mixers, amplifiers and passive devices. Assemblies including various combinations of the above as well as driver circuitry (Ku-Band minimum). A thorough understanding of operating the following is required: Network Analyzers including time domain Oscilloscopes Various high power set-ups Spectrum Analyzers Pulse Generators Noise Figure Meter High Power Amplifiers/Sources Responsibilities include the following: Interfacing with drafting Creates and/or leads the creation of standard documentation packages (BOM, Assembly diagrams, Flowsheets, etc.). Customer interface A thorough understanding of new and existing designs with the ability to assist Technicians, Engineering Assistants and Assemblers. Maintain accurate Design and Assembly/Test information on the server Must have an active Security Clearance (or the ability to get a security clearance) Position will be located in Manchester, NH
