Sr. Desktop Administrator

Emergint Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Desktop Administrator to join our team. The selected candidate will work on site at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Anchorage, Alaska.

Key Responsibilities

The selected Candidate will provide desktop and server support in a Microsoft/XP environment. This position requires the ability to take incoming trouble calls, using Peregrine - Service Center, troubleshoot the problem and provide resolution in a timely manner. Must have solid MS application experience and know imaging and ghosting procedures and must be able to provide server support and backup.

Required Skills & Experience:

The position requires detailed technical knowledge in the following areas:

Hardware: A variety of Intel based PCs, laptops and servers; network printers, Blackberries, multi-media Tandberg.
Software: Windows XP, MS Office, MS Exchange, Citrix and Ghost.

The selected Candidate will provide extensive desktop/laptop support to customers and must be able to perform the following:

Must have a good working knowledge of Blackberries and SMS application delivery.
Must understand escalation procedures.
Be able to assist and coordinate special projects involving Workstation software installs and configurations.
Working knowledge of computer hardware to include Dell and Hewlett Packard.
Be able to analyze, log, track and resolve software/hardware and server matters pertaining to network connectivity issues, printer, and other software applications.
Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems.
Document system events to ensure continuous functioning; install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations.
Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems.
Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
Ensure Workstation data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Work independently to provide IT support for remote/field staff, special CDC projects and assignments, including all desktop support. Support may involve servers, e-mail, routers, switches, laptops, modems, DSL, tablets, and Blackberry devices.
Work independently to install, operate, maintain, configure, troubleshoot and repair Government issued IT equipment used by CDC remote/field staff customers including servers, tape backup systems, desktops, laptops, Blackberry devices and peripherals.
Be very knowledgeable of Servers and in accordance with ITSO standards install, configure, integrate, upgrade, operate, and administer the LAN operating systems, including conducting and maintaining a reliable tape backup system, creating accounts on Windows file Servers at domestic remote sites, and Quarantine Stations.
May require physically moving, shipping, or transporting CDC IT equipment, as well as coordinating equipment delivery and repairs.
Work with IT staff at remote locations to assist Government staff with remote connectivity via local LAN systems.
Maintain database scheduling system that records dates and times for videoconference meetings, names of meetings, number of attendees, number attending from remote sites, and contact person.
Provide videoconferencing support and IPTV support as available. Work closely with the CDC MMT team to provide acceptable connectivity for scheduled meetings via videoconferencing to remote sites. Assist with various audiovisual systems, equipment and applications. Attend meetings via videoconferencing for videoconference facilitators to discuss techniques, issues, solutions and capabilities.
As required, travel to provide on-site IT support to CDC field and remote staff throughout Anchorage.
Perform Primary or Alternate Property Custodian duties at RFSS locations.
May require independently working overtime and weekends during emergencies and system upgrades or maintenance. During emergencies, must be able to work effectively under pressure to resolve network system problems.
Should have at least 5 - 8 years of technical hands on experience.
Must have excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
Must be reliable and able to work independently.
Position may require lifting upwards of 20 - 30 pounds of equipment.

Educational Requirements:

Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems or related technical field.
Certifications: Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are highly desired.
